Highlights SXSW 2024
We are at the beginning of a technological super-cycle, driven by AI, the Internet of Things, and biotechnology
AI as a cross-cutting technology with a significance similar to the steam engine, electricity, or the internet, which will fundamentally change all areas of our lives and the economy.
Next evolutionary stage of AI: From Large Language Models to Large Action Models. In the future, AI will not only know what we want to say or present next, but what we want to do next.
This requires a variety of additional data points, generated among other things from the completely interconnected Internet of Things, but also from a variety of new AI wearables.
Spatial Web as the next evolutionary stage of the Internet
The launch of the Apple Vision Pro has reignited dreams of the post-mobile internet era - with spatial computing, a new technology is poised to succeed the smartphone.
The hardware is not yet lucrative for end consumers, but the next few months are essential to familiarize oneself with the possibilities and explore business models, services, and forms of communication that spatial technology could be used for in the future.
Consumers in poly-crisis
Another major focus was consumer behavior and future consumer needs against the backdrop of poly-crisis as the new normal state. A stronger focus on (mental) health and wellness, new forms of family cohabitation, new requirements for retail, service, and product design due to increasing (internal) migration, and new media formats based on the creator economy dominate.
Challenges for marketing in the new normal
The marketing tracks were incredibly comprehensive and practical, with the main focus here being on the use of culture marketing for brand building, the use of hype cycles for storytelling and engagement, as well as the healing of strained customer-brand relationships caused by increasingly poorer product and service quality due to economic constraints and efficiency-driven communication measures.
