Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
Born Integrated
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) is in our DNA: We are born integrated.
Born integrated means much more than empowering all of our people to freely communicate who they are, be creative, and innovate. It means bringing together and celebrating diverse cultures, ethnicities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, gender identities, physical and mental abilities as well as different work and life situations.
We believe Best Brands are built through open-mindedness and curiosity. It’s the only way this can happen. And it’s how we achieve maximum collaboration and ÜberCreativity.
Our Diversity Pledge
Our Diversity Pledge is more than a promise - it’s a commitment to building a culture rooted in tolerance, inclusion, and equal opportunity within our Houses of Communication.
We welcome everyone, regardless of age, gender, social, ethnic, or religious background, or sexual orientation, because we know that the best ideas and most compelling stories emerge from diverse teams. That’s why we’ve introduced numerous DEIB initiatives, striving every day to enhance diversity and tolerance across our company while ensuring everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered.
How we live diversity
In the House of Communication, diversity and variety are part of our DNA. To visibly express this fundamental principle of our agency group in linguistic terms, we design our communication to be gender inclusive at all levels and in all areas. Through gender inclusive language and the representation of diversity in language, we make people of all genders visible.
As part of our diversity commitment, we require all employees to complete a mandatory E-Learning module on unconscious bias. This training helps us recognize and address implicit biases, supporting a culture of diversity, understanding, and collaboration.
Every year we collaborate with our international colleagues to organize a program featuring speeches, learning sessions, and events dealing with various topics of DEIB such as Gender Equity, Corporate Responsiblity, Racism, Cultural Identity and Neurodiversity.
Through our partnership with Employers for Equality, we offer free remote sessions that tackle key topics like Black History Month, the Gender Pay Gap, and Allyship. These initiatives provide our team with the tools to raise awareness and turn it into meaningful action, creating a more inclusive workplace.
We are part of the Impact of Diversity initiative which is all about diversity and inclusion. Together with Impact of Diversity we put the spotlight on every initiative, every role model and every company that is committed to diversity and inclusion regardless of size and prominence.
Balancing family and career are challenging. To help our colleagues, we provide flexible work hours, assistance in finding daycare, and workshops on family topics. Through our weFAMILY community, colleagues can share ideas and connect both in-person and online.
Together, we implement projects that promote the visibility of LGBTQIA+ and advocate for their concerns, such as:
- Information events as part of our DEIB Month
- Supporting and participating in annual Pride celebrations, including Christopher Street Day events in various locations
- Consultation on internal projects like a gender inclusive language guide and much more
We signed the UN's Women's Empowerment Principles in February 2022 which showcases that we stand in solidarity with the United Nations to end gender inequality.
Our feedback option on our Intranet, called weNET, allows for the anonymous submission of criticism, praise, and suggestions on all DEIB-related topics. The insights gained are used to address potential discrimination and create a work environment that actively promotes diversity. We also have a designated point of contact for this purpose.
Diversity Cases
We don't just embrace diversity; we actively work on diversity projects such as Rainbow Wool, Saved Memories, and #StopRepeatingStories. "Saved Memories" uses AI to transform childhood photos for trans* individuals, helping them reconcile their past with their true identity. Rainbow Wool, made from the wool of gay rams, supports LGBTQIA+ initiatives, and the #StopRepeatingStories campaign fights antisemitism through powerful AI-altered films. These projects reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion in meaningful ways.
