Eva Bodecker Thunborg appointed CEO of the new Mediaplus Nordics

The Mediaplus Group is continuing its global expansion and establishing an additional international office in Stockholm. As the new CEO of Mediaplus Nordics, Eva Bodecker Thunborg will oversee the Mediaplus operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Munich, 11 July 2022 — A new Mediaplus office, a new CEO: with Mediaplus Nordics, the Mediaplus Group is launching the next phase in its international expansion in Scandinavia. As CEO of the new Stockholm office Eva Bodecker Thunborg will oversee all business activities in the Scandinavian region, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

With 44 subsidiaries and partnerships worldwide Mediaplus is the largest independent and partner-managed media agency in Europe. Under the umbrella of the agency group, highly agile hubs of experts from a wide range of disciplines are united to deliver individual and customized solutions to clients' problems. The composition of the teams, tools and insights is always based on the client's needs and objectives.

Mediaplus Nordics emerged from the joint venture with Tre Kronor Media initiated in 2016. Both agency partners will continue to collaborate closely in the Scandinavian region. The two Tre Kronor Media founders, CEO Niclas Fröberg and COO Lars Bönnelyche, are still involved in the joint venture. Eva Bodecker Thunborg already joined Tre Kronor Media in September 2021 for the founding of the new Mediaplus office. At the helm of Mediaplus Nordics, she now reports to Matthias Brüll, the global CEO of Mediaplus.

Matthias Brüll explains: “It is part of our philosophy to form strong agency partnerships within a new region and then further develop these into dedicated Mediaplus offices. As a result, we are already highly successful in the Scandinavian region with international accounts that include BMW, De’Longhi and Capri Sun. Nordic countries play an increasingly prominent role in pitches, which is why we are now launching the next phase. With the foundation of Mediaplus Nordics and the appointment of Eva Bodecker Thunborg, we are creating the ideal conditions for new and existing clients to expand in this important and highly digitally evolved market. Thanks to her expertise in the Scandinavian region – with all its unique characteristics and differences – and her many years’ experience with major client accounts, Eva is the ideal appointment to the newly created position of CEO.”

Eva Bodecker Thunborg most recently served as Client Director at Carat. She previously worked for Mindshare, where she began her career in 1999, and then for OMD. In a career spanning more than 20 years, she has managed major FMCG brands such as Unilever, Orkla and Ferrero, as well as big-name brands including Renault, Nissan, Ford, Volvo, Mazda and IBM.

In addition to growing the international business in Scandinavia, Eva Bodecker Thunborg’s tasks above all include spurring on the implementation of the global Mediaplus tools and resources in the new markets. These encompass the international digital and data hub Mediaplus Realtime, as well as the AI-based intermedia planning tool “Brand Investor” and the pan-European “Total Video and Audio Integrator”. A native of Sweden, Eva will also play an important role in the integrated collaboration with Plan.Net, the digital customer experience and commerce service provider within the Serviceplan Group. As part of the customised agency The Marcom Engine, a strong Plan.Net team in Stockholm is working together with Mediaplus to manage the digital activities of BMW and Mini in the Scandinavian region. Both agencies plan to collaborate on managing integrated accounts together.

Eva Bodecker Thunberg states: “The Scandinavian market is as challenging as it is rich in opportunities for companies. Thanks to its advanced level of digitalisation and the population’s great familiarity with all things digital, Scandinavia can also serve as a pilot market for innovative campaign approaches – not least due to its relatively small size. The task here is to take account of the completely different consumer habits and market constellations in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark and bring them together within a uniform strategy for all Nordic countries. I am convinced that, with its international focus, its agile, partner-managed and independent approach and its highly customisable in-house tools and products, Mediaplus will enjoy great success here.”
